Walliams in the classroom
David Walliams's books have been so popular with children and have become international sensations. Although his work may not be on the curriculum, that doesn't mean you cant spend some time looking at his books and the creative ways they teach some great life lessons!
In this blog I will highlight activties which you could use to explore David Walliam's book's and that would pair very well with our new workshop 'The Wacky World of David Walliams'
Gangsta Granny
Gangsta Granny is all about first impressions and judging a book by its cover, why not use this example with other character's and see if we can understand more about the character's, they might not be as they appear. For example, Jack from 'Jack and the Beanstalk' is the hero of the story, but he steals from the giant. Can we gain a deeper understanding of character development by exploring some of these stereotypes.
Billionaire Boy
In Billionaire Boy, Mr Spud made his billion's by creating an invention. Why not task your class to come up with their very own inventions? This task could be as eleberate as you would like to make it including creating models of their inventions, marketing designs and pitching their invention to 'investors'.
The Boy in the Dress
Lisa likes to design her own dresses, maybe your class would like to design their own outfits? In the interest of celebrating eachothers differences, why not enjourage them to design an outfit that portray's them personally, maybe something they are interested in or something that makes them different.
