For many students across the UK exams are just around the corner. Whether it’s your SATs, GCSE’s or even A Levels, it can be an extremely stressful time! It may feel like your whole future depends on what grades you get and although they’re important, you must remember they’re not the only thing to rely on for a successful future.
Amongst the Konflux Team we have been through every stage of education and know exactly what it feels like to have exam pressure weighing on your mind. To help you out, we have come up with some useful tips to bear in mind whilst revising:
A Balanced Diet
Make sure what you’re eating is balanced and healthy. Eating too many sweets or saturated fats can make you hyper and irritable.
Good alternatives are:
Get enough Sleep
Did you know that most children and teenagers need around 8-10 hours of sleep a night?
Not only will it allow you to concentrate for longer but it will boost your mood and improve your memory. Don’t forget to take at least 30 minutes before bedtime to wind down and relax your mind.
Talk about your nerves!
Feeling nervous or anxious about exams is perfectly normal. Talking about your worries can help get it off your chest!
If you speak to someone who’s been through exams themselves they can give you useful advice and reassurance. Next time you’re feeling worried, reach out to your friends, family members and even your teachers.
Reward yourself
Motivation and reward is so important when getting through revision and exams.Make a timetable of revision and reward yourself throughout the day.
For example you could watch 30 minutes of TV or listen to your favourite music. You could even have a quick snack on your favourite chocolate bar. A change of environment would also help to refresh your mind so why not get some fresh air and have a catch up with a friend.
Time Out
Although it may be great when you finally get the motivation to sit down to revise it’s also vital that you give your brain a rest too.
Don’t forget to pause for meals and grab a glass of water every so often – stay hydrated! Don’t let revision overcome you so make sure you take some time to catch up with friends and see your family.
Make it fun and be creative
One of the most important tips for revision is to make it fun and be creative!
Some example are:
Finally, don’t let the pressure get to you. Stand strong, stay focused and you will succeed.
Good luck and all the best.
