Matilda The Musical has entered its fifteenth year in London, making it the 10th longest running musical in West End history.

Adapted from the Roald Dahl classic, the musical was created by the Royal Shakespeare Company and Dennis Kelly into a spectacular stage show with music from the genius that is Tim Minchin.

Now in its 15th year at the Cambridge Theatre, it continues to wow audiences and is also a popular school trip whether that be in London, or on tour.

For those of us lucky enough to have seen it, we can confidently say it is a magical experience, and the songs will be in your head for days but we take no issue with that since the music and lyrics alike are incredible composed.

The musical is also a reminder how incredibly important the arts and how together, we need to continue to support all the arts in any way we can. We fully believe the arts can be such a powerful tool, not only for learning but for connectivity, inclusiveness and a vital outlet for creative and emotional experience.

Roald Dahl’s stories and characters have stood the test of time and continue to whisk all generations on magical, adventurous journeys while exploring the wonderful worlds he created. Pupils immerse themselves in his books, in and out of the classroom and the books continue to be used as a literature study for English lessons nationwide.

Roald Dahl’s website (https://www.roalddahl.com/stories/matilda) provides excellent ‘Matilda’ resources for pupils and teachers with a simple breakdown of the books characters and objectives.

Here at Konflux, we also chose to feature Matilda in our Roald Dahl workshops and we hope Matilda the Musical continue to dazzle audiences for another 15 years!
